Meet the Principal

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! The entire staff is ready and eager to meet our new and returning students on August 12, 2015 and look forward to a wonderful year of learning together. Please know student success is our primary goal, and we hope to meet and exceed your expectations for a rewarding school year. We are committed to providing your child a challenging and flexible curriculum in a risk-free learning environment conductive to learning.

Miss Sanders, Principal

Girard believes...

  • that student performance is enhanced by good attendance.

Attendance is a critical factor in any child's school success. Children should attend school every day, except in cases of illness or emergency. It is impossible to replace the learning that happens on any school day with make-up work. Regular attendance and promptness are good habits that are expected and appreciated at all levels of schooling and the workplace. This year, make school a priority in your household.

Commit to Excellence!!!!!

Commit to excellence in attendance

Morning Schedule:

  • 7:20 a.m., Students permitted on campus ~ Breakfast begins
  • 7:50 a.m., Bell Rings ~ Students report to class
  • 8:00 a.m., Tardy Bell Rings ~ Be in class

Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to the office to receive a tardy pass. Please try to schedule routine dentist and doctor's appointments after school hours.

Visitors on Campus

Ninety percent of school safety deals with controlling who comes on the campus and what they bring with them. With this information, Girard will continue to be vigilant in requiring all visitors to enter through the front entrance and sign in and out at the office. The office must have an accurate accounting of everyone on the campus. If the building caught fire, for example, the Fire Chief will ask the principal, "Who is still in the building?" If a person who hasn't signed in was trapped inside and needed help, the office would be unaware of their presence on campus. The office staff will issue a visitor badge to all visitors.

Anyone seen on campus without a visitor's badge will be asked about his or her presence, "May I help you?"

School-Wide Expectations

  • We are respectful.
  • We are safe.
  • We are responsible.
  • We are kind.
