School Detention

The faculty of Girard Elementary School feels that appropriate conduct is a vital part of the educational process. In order for teachers to do their most effective job of teaching, student cooperation is a must. Students need to be aware of rules and what they mean. All of us will take time from our daily schedules to explain and show our students what is expected of them at Girard Elementary School. Misbehaving will not be tolerated in the classroom, lunchroom, playground, bus room, restroom or hall. In general, students must obey all school and bus rules.

In order to deal with re-occurring discipline problems, the faculty and principal have agreed upon having students stay after school until 3:30 doing extra school work. If your child has to stay for detention, you will be notified in advance. You will be responsible for picking up your child at 3:30. Students staying after school for disciplinary reasons may not ride a bus home even if the bus runs after 3:30. A conference with the teacher may be held between 3:05 - 3:30 on the day of detention. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
